We are approaching Marigot, a small town on the French side of St. Martin. St. Martin is one island that is politically divided into a French side (Saint Martin) and Dutch side (Sint Maarten). The story (probably not true, but who knows) is that instead of fighting over the island, a Frenchman armed with a bottle of wine began walking from one end of the island to the other, while at the same time a Dutchman armed with a bottle of gin began walking in the other direction. Where they met became the boundary, and the French side is bigger because the gin was much stronger than the wine. As I say, probably not historically accurate, but fun to tell.
