Animated Sailboat

Welcome to the website of Patrick and Nancy and their sailboat Stolen Child. For the past two years, we have been preparing ourselves and our boat for extended cruising. In January 2008 we will move aboard and "let slip the chains that bind us." We created this website so that friends, family and curious onlookers can follow our progress and share our experiences.

Check both the "Log Book" and "Picture Galleries" links periodically. Sometimes we post pictures to the Gallery and text narrative to the Log Book, sometimes we embed pictures in the Log Book, sometimes we omit the Log Book entry and rely on the picture captions in the Gallery to tell the story, so check both places. Once we are aboard full-time, we will most likely post text narratives to the Log Book with some regularity, but update the Picture Gallery only when we can get good internet access (we can post Log Book entries using HAM radio).

Disclaimer: This site is made from 100% recycled electrons. No electrons have been harmed during the development of this website and all laws of conservation (both matter and energy) have been strictly observed.

Latest Update

07/18/08 - After getting very far behind on updating the Ship's Log and Picture Gallery, I finally have it up to date again. We have now been living aboard and cruising for better than 6 months and so far have no worries. We have been in Isla Mujeres, Mexico for a couple of months and it is getting close to time to move on. We don't have an itinerary, so stay tuned, we don't know where we'll turn up next!

01/16/08 - We now live aboard Stolen Child and have loosed the dock lines. We are officially cruising. This is a new design for the home page and I will eventually update all the other pages to conform to this new design. I am using CSS to help make updates easier and you may find a few glitches. Please send me an email if you see any, so that I can correct them. Check out the new link I put in that shows our last reported position on a map.

12/22/07 - Nancy officially retired last Monday. We had our last ever Tuesday night at Paddy O'Quigley's and one heck of a crowd showed up. We are currently going through the apartment deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. We got rid of most of our stuff when we sold the house, so it shouldn't be too big of a job. The weather here in Kansas is atrocious, the temp is in the lower 20's, snow is falling, and the wind is gusting to 40 mph., which makes me that much more anxious to get to the boat and head somewhere the weather suits my wardrobe. We're in the final stretch and all the major hurdles have been crossed. Stay tuned ...
